Factors leading to reluctance of blood donors from blood donation in Derna/Libya

Background: Blood donation is a major concern to the society as donated blood lifesaving for individuals who need it. In Libya, concept of voluntary donors almost non-existent due absence donor motivation and retention strategies. The objective this study was assess factors leading reluctance from among general population in Derna. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional survey design used collect data barriers towards Derna/Libya between August 2021 September 2021. 425 Libyan living city Derna were selected by convenience sampling design. Self-administered structured questionnaire which adopted previous studies. Data analysis performed statistical package social sciences (SPSS) version 25. Results: Of participants, majority them male (70.1%). 195 (45.9%) reported that they had at least once their lifetime, 186 (95.4%) 9 (4.6%) female. People never most commonly (54.1%) because did not feel comfortable hospital, followed causes weakness fainting or dizzy have been asked donate. Conclusions: practice found be low. Ministry health Red Cross association work strengthen manner improve plan strategy awareness about should encouraged population.
